The monthly Greenwood-Phinney Artwalk is Friday night with the usual dozens of businesses staying open late to host artists of various mediums, from music to photography to painting. The artwalk runs 6-9 p.m. the second Friday of every month. See a map of participating businesses and artists here.
At Taproot Theatre, artist Sam Vance will show paintings from his water lily series. He’ll also be sketching a portrait of artist Nikki Visel during the artwalk. The sketch will be used as a prop during the theater’s production of “Enchanted April,” which opens Sept. 25.
Art On The Ridge is featuring seven local artists, including a live painter, inside SPACE: A Design Collective, at 7601 Greenwood Ave. N.
Woodland Park Zoo and Piper Village are hosting the final Penguins on the March silent auction for the remaining penguins that were decorated by professional and amateur artists. All proceeds will benefit Woodland Park Zoo’s Field Conservation Program. Auction closes at 8:45 p.m. and winning bids will be announced and distributed by 9:00 p.m.
Also on auction is Bherd Studios artist John Osgood’s penguin and penguin mural, which has been stationed at the entrance to the Humboldt penguin exhibit at Woodland Park Zoo all summer.
Also at Bherd Studios, a good old-fashioned soapbox, where artists will speak their minds through their art.
Piper Village at 202 N. 85th St. is also celebrating the grand opening of Mud Bay Granary; bring your furry-friends to the party, which includes a bunch of freebies: crafts for kids provided by Top Ten Toys, Taproot Theatre Improv team performance at 7:30 p.m., dog-friendly activities and goodies provided by Mud Bay Granary, music and refreshments provided by Piper Village, and some Humboldt penguin-themed fun provided by Woodland Park Zoo. Colorific Kids will have a face painting station ($5 – $14).
The silent auction and festival will be located on Piper Village’s Morrow Lane, between Palatine and 1st Ave NW (just north of Top Ten Toys).
