Solar-powered cash at Phinney Center

by | Jul 17, 2009

The Phinney Center is installing a solar-powered ATM inĀ its upper parking lot. It should be up and running for Friday’s Farmer’s market. It will be in a secure “cage” that will be locked at night. Here it is still under construction.

PNA is giving the space for it and it is owned and maintained by a private company (not a bank). They will charge $2.50 transaction fee, which goes straight to them – the PNA isn’t making any money on the deal. We’re providing it as a service to Market shoppers and anyone in the neighborhood who needs easy access to some cash and who doesn’t mind paying a fee for the convenience. We imagine folks at Red Mill who don’t carry a checkbook may be happy it’s there when they realize they don’t take plastic.
