The Seafair Pirates’ cannon will be booming and the clowns will be out in full force for Wednesday’s Greenwood Seafair Parade. The parade starts at 6 p.m. at 95th and Greenwood, then heads south to 85th St., then west to 6th Ave. NW. You’ll see lots of different community drill teams, a number of bands, some very cute kids, classic cars, funny floats, and, yes, the Seafair Clowns and Pirates.
Since it starts at 6 p.m. way up on 95th, those down by the end of the route won’t see anything until about 6:30.
Here’s the Navy Band from last year’s parade:

And some talented unicyclists:
The theme this year is “Greenwood Gets Active.” In that spirit, University of Washington Director of Rowing Bob Ernst will be the Grand Marshall.
Greenwood Market will be selling meals (usually something like brats or hot dogs, chips and a drink) in their parking lot. And Sanctuary Church, The Green Bean Coffeehouse, & The Salvation Army are hosting a Kids-Zone in the south-east corner of the Fred Meyer parking lot from 4-7 p.m. Come enjoy the bouncy house, face painting, carnival games, a juggling exhibition, cold treats and candy.
By the way, PhinneyWood is one of the many sponsors of this year’s parade (check out the official poster in local businesses’ windows and you’ll see PhinneyWood in tiny print at the far right bottom!) We’ll be there taking pictures and scrambling after candy. Feel free to send us your photos after the parade and we’ll post them.
