Neighbors enjoy art, sunshine at annual Artwalk

by | May 9, 2009

Thank goodness the sun came out today for the big annual Greenwood/Phinney Artwalk. The artwalk ran from 6-9:30 Friday night and will happen again Saturday from 12-5 p.m. Here are pictures from a few places we stopped at on the south end of Greenwood/Phinney Avenue. Please send us your photos and let us – and your neighbors – know of some of the must-see places/artists on the Artwalk for Saturday.
The southernmost artist stop is outside Dolly’s Dollhouse, 5821 Phinney Ave. N., where artist Jeanine Lindquist is showing off miniature tables made of paper that interest kids and serious collectors alike.

The simplest ones go for less than $8. Her most expensive? About what you’d pay for a lifesized one: $175. It comes with place-settings, a floral arrangement and folded napkins.
The Shop Agora at 6417-A Phinney Ave. N. had a full house of people sampling the Mediterranean treats and asking Nikos (left) the finer points of his Greek cheeses.

Outside The Shop Agora, artist Jeannie Smitherman put wine corks to work with eye-catching effect.

Inside Francine Seders Gallery at 6701 Greenwood Ave. N., this group of ladies was providing musical entertainment. I neglected to get their group’s name, so if anyone knows, please tell us.

Outside Francine Seders Art Gallery, guitarist and singer Mike Bucy kept passers by entertained.

He’ll be back Saturday to play more music.
Lemon Meringue, formerly a brick and mortar store on Greenwood, held a trunk show of ladies fashions at Picnic (a PhinneyWood advertiser) at 6801 Greenwood Ave. N.

Also at Picnic, artist Ericka Eckert’s textiles offer a splash of vibrant color.

After more than a year in their new building next to the Phinney Center without a sign saying who they were, Toepfer Construction finally has grand new signage. That’s Richard Andersen and Mike Veitenhans standing out front, no doubt discussing the artwork inside.
