The first Tuesday of each month, the Sundown Saloon at 820 NW 85th St. hosts a live “Price is Right” game show-inspired evening, where guests get to “come on down” and bid on prizes the saloon owners purchased at Goodwill.
We have all the classic Price is Right games (plinko, the Big Wheel, etc.), really flimsy cardboard sets, authentic game show music and a great host (Henry) for the evening who keeps the crowd laughing. It’s a lot of fun and for good causes. We charge all participants $1 per ticket, and each ticket gives them a chance to be a player. They can purchase as many tickets (or chances) as they wish. Donations are also encouraged for those who choose to watch rather than play. We then match all money raised.
Owner Lou Brauer says this month’s Price is Right will raise money for The Youth Development Fund.
By the way, the Sundown Saloon recently changed its name from the Sundown Tavern. They spent the last year remodeling the bar, launched a new barbecue-focused menu last week (Lou says all of their meats are smoked in-house using apple and hickory wood chips), and now serve hard liquor.
