Update: For this month’s project, please meet at Taproot Theatre at N. 85th St. & Palatine, instead of the Boys & Girls Club.
The Greening Greenwood group has a great endeavor called the Greenwood Roots of Youth Project, which pays teens to work with adults to weed, mulch and generally beautify the tree wells around Greenwood Ave. and 85th, as well as the grounds of the Boys & Girls Club at 8635 Fremont Ave. N.
The once-a-month project is every third Saturday. Participants meet at the Boys & Girls Club at 10 a.m. for two hours of work. Wear gloves and bring any tools you’re comfortable working with: shovels, bucket, hand tools.
Adult gardeners and neighborhood landscape professionals are needed to work with the teens by lending a little direction and guidance. And the group is always looking for donations to help pay the teens $15 for their efforts. Six teens worked on the project last month.
