826 Seattle hires first youth mentor

The free writing and tutoring center 826 Seattle (hiding behind the guise of the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co. at 8414 Greenwood Ave.) has hired its first Youth Mentor, Thomas Faiz.
Thomas is a senior at Ballard High School. He serves as a role model for 826’s younger students, helping them with their schoolwork, modeling good homework discipline, and serving as an active member of the youth advisory board.

Teri Hein, Executive Director, says Thomas was hired because he had already been volunteering at drop-in tutoring sessions. She says his engaging personality, promptness and cheerfulness while helping students with their homework, make him a terrific youth mentor.
826 is a free, nonprofit writing center for students ages 6-18 to develop their writing skills. 826 Seattle’s current fundraiser is the Mustache-a-Thon, where men, women and even babies are growing mustaches to raise money for 826’s programs. Check out the funny pix!
