Neighborhood arts events receive grants

Forty neighborhood art and cultural events received funding awards from the city’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, including the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s Day of the Dead Festival.
Each of the 40 events will receive $1,200. Events are from all over the city, from major festivals at the Seattle Center to a monthly music festival in Columbia City and an indigenous film festival.
Phinney’s Day of the Dead Festival in November includes a neighborhood parade, arts and crafts activities such as making sugar skulls, an art exhibit, musical performances, dancing and poetry readings.
