Woodland Park fire death likely a suicide

by | Sep 9, 2009

As many people surmised yesterday, the 57-year-old woman who died after being engulfed in flames at Woodland Park on Tuesday, likely deliberately set herself on fire.

“We believe at this point in time the death is suicide,” said Seattle Police Department spokesman Sean Whitcomb, this morning, adding though that the final call is up to King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which is conducting its own investigation.

The medical examiner’s office could have an update this afternoon Thursday.

As neighbor pointed out in comments on yesterday’s post, the Crisis Clinic operates a 24-hour crisis line at (206) 461-3222, or 866-4CRISIS (866-427-4747). Our condolences go out to the woman’s family and friends.
