Another music venue calls it quits: Tim’s Tavern to close

by | Sep 3, 2021

Tim’s Tavern, one of Greeenwood and North Seattle’s few live music venues, announced its permanent closure via Facebook:

Dear Friends and Music Fans,We have thought long and hard about the situation at hand, and have come to the conclusion that it is no longer safe to operate in our current form. Having shows in a small room masked and vaccinated or not just doesn’t seem to be a smart thing to do in the present climate.

With bands cancelling almost daily due to covid exposures and a member of our staff contracting the virus, it’s simply not worth it to continue hosting live shows at Tim’s Tavern.

On top of all of this our landlord has decided to move in a different direction with our current space and will not be renewing our lease which ends in the next couple months.

All that being said, it is with very heavy hearts that we are announcing our closure. We will be closing the venue and cancelling all shows moving forward. We apologize for the huge bummer and want you to know that this decision was probably one of the hardest things we have ever had to do.

While it’s true that this era of Tim’s Tavern is ending, we are not giving up the fight. Rest assured we are currently searching for a new outdoor, safer and more covid friendly space and WE WILL BE BACK stronger than ever. The shows must go on. Please send good vibes our way, and if you have any questions or concerns (or know of a good outdoor spot that’s available) don’t hesitate to reach out.

Rock on Seattle.— TIMS
