by | May 21, 2018

Two lifeguarded beaches, two outdoor pools and nine spray parks will open on Memorial Day weekend, with the rest opening near the end of June.

Nearest to our neighborhood is the lifeguarded beach at East Green Lake, 7201 E. Green Lake Dr. N., by the Green Lake Community Center. Beginning this weekend, the beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends and 2-7 p.m. weekdays. (West Green Lake Beach at 7312 W. Green Lake Dr. opens June 23.)

Lowery C. “Pop” Mounger Pool, outside at 2535 32nd Ave. W. in Magnolia, has already opened for the season. It is open daily until Sept. 9.

The nine spray parks (all the spray parks except Pratt Park, which is closed for renovation) will open May 26 and operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sept. 3.

Seattle Parks and Rec offers free daytime youth swim lessons for ages 6-16 from 12:15-12:45 p.m. at all nine lifeguarded beaches. Session 1 runs July 2-13; Session 2 runs July 16-27; Session 3 runs July 30 to Aug. 10, and Session 4 runs Aug. 13-24. See full schedule here.

Register for those lessons (beginning June 1) by calling 206-684-4078 or emailing [email protected] with the swimmer’s name and age, beach location, session dates, and a contactphone. Or register in person beginning June 23.
