by | Mar 2, 2016

Taproot Theatre just wrapped up its run of “Silent Sky” and is now preparing for “Cotton Patch Gospel,” which runs March 23 through April 23. This is a revival of Taproot’s previous productions in 1994 and 2001. It’s recommended for ages 12 and up.

It’s a rare play that can boast favorable reviews from both Rolling Stone and Christianity Today. That’s why we’ve revamped this bluegrass musical, based on the story of Jesus’ birth, and put it back on Taproot’s stage. Experience the soul-stirring power of excellent storytelling and inspiring music.

The cast features Taproot favorites Randy Scholz (Taproot Theatre’s Illyria, Village Theatre’s My Fair Lady) as Matthew, Theresa Holmes (Taproot Theatre’s Appalachian Christmas Homecoming), Edd Key (Taproot Theatre’s Appalachian Christmas Homecoming, Godspell), Sam Vance (Taproot Theatre’s A Charlie Brown Christmas) and Taproot newcomer Benjamin Hunter (CityArts 2016 Future List, 2015 WA Governor’s Arts & Heritage Young Arts Leader Award Recipient).

There’s a Pay What You Can performance at 7:30 p.m. on March 30; and post-play discussions with staff and cast members after every Wednesday performance (except for March 23), and after mid-week matinees at 2 p.m. on March 29 and 10 a.m. on April 6.

Tickets are on sale online or at the box office at 204 N. 85th St.
