Showing up for our trans community

by | Nov 7, 2026

Showing up matters; it’s how we show we care. We invite you to show up for your trans neighbors in the ways they already committed to themselves.

As Pride Foundation’s CEO Katie Carter reflects, the results of this week’s elections push us to sit with the dichotomy of our current landscape. “Here in Washington, Jaelynn Scott’s win makes her the first trans state lawmaker in Washington and the first out Black trans state lawmaker in the nation! …While there is truly so much to celebrate from the monumental and historical wins this week, we also know that our work is far from over. In Washington State, a ballot initiative that would have forced school administrators to out LGBTQ youth was defeated, but in a devastating loss, an initiative that will ban trans girls from participating in sports passed.”

State Rep. elect Jaelynn Scott shared yesterday, “We will have an opportunity for school districts, parents, teachers, and youth to approach the question of fairness with compassion and care. Together we will engage in honest and loving dialogue regarding core values and reflect on whether we truly champion a society where every young person feels cherished, included, and fully belongs.”

The PNA hopes to be just that—a safe space where all our neighbors feel seen and welcomed. We stand in community with our trans and nonbinary neighbors. And in this season of giving, we invite you to join us by participating in our Winter Wishes gift tag program. Two of our partners are actively creating space for the trans community: Lambert House and STANCE. Gift sign-ups open on November 15th.

If experiences are more up your alley, consider attending an upcoming STANCE concert on November 20th or 21st. The Sound of Remembrance: A Mosaic Requiem is STANCE’s 2026 Transgender Day of Remembrance concert, honoring transgender and nonbinary lives through music and communal remembrance. The program brings together works spanning centuries and traditions, culminating in a newly assembled “Mosaic Requiem” that pairs movements by José Maurício Nunes Garcia, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann, and others.

Trans joy and standing witness to it is also an act of protest. Whatever shape your activism takes, we hope you see the PNA as a space to gather in community and a place where you belong.
