For 30 years, Dance Fremont has brought a little extra magic to the holiday season with its annual production of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, A Story Ballet. This December, the Greenwood dance school celebrates three decades of this holiday tradition, and the entire community is invited to join the celebration.
Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale, The Steadfast Tin Soldier is a heartwarming, family-friendly performance featuring colorful handmade costumes, locally designed and painted scenery, original music performed by a live ensemble, and a cast of young dancers. The 75-minute production is perfect for audiences of all ages, including little ones experiencing the magic of live theater for the first time.
With generations of local dancers having taken the stage, creating memories for their families and sharing their love of dance with the community, this tradition celebrates creativity, dedication, and the joy of coming together during the holidays.
A Neighborhood Dance School with Deep Roots
Located at 85th and Greenwood, just above Cocoa Legato, Dance Fremont is a nonprofit dance school offering ballet and modern dance instruction for children and adults. Founded in 1996 and originally located on Stone Way, the school has grown into an inclusive, supportive community welcoming dancers of all backgrounds, bodies, and identities. Today, more than 200 students, ranging in age from 3 to 79, share a passion for dance in an environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
As Dance Fremont celebrates its 30th year, there’s no better time for PhinneyWood neighbors to show their support. Bring the family, invite a friend, or make it part of your holiday traditions. Supporting local arts organizations helps keep our neighborhood creative, connected, and full of life.
Thirty years of holiday magic, made possible by generations of dancers, families, and neighbors. Let’s help make this anniversary one to remember!
