More than 45 years ago, a group of neighbors came together with a simple question: What does our neighborhood need?
They surveyed their neighbors and began building an organization around what they heard. With creativity, collaboration, and a deep devotion to service, the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) began as a grassroots neighborhood effort. Today, the PNA has grown to provide so many different programs and services that it can be hard to explain what the PNA is.
We’re the Phinney Center Campus and the Greenwood Senior Center. We’re the Hot Meal Program, PNA Village, Memory Loss Program, Preschool Co-ops, Whittier Kids, Tool Library, and Community Woodshop. We’re holiday festivals, cultural celebrations, business district activations, and gathering spaces. We offer ways for neighbors to connect with each other because we believe a connected community is a healthy community.
But through all that growth, one thing has remained true: PNA is a membership-supported organization. And right now, membership means more than ever.
There’s something pretty beautiful about the way membership works: thousands of neighbors each chip in, and together, we make a real impact on the health, connection, and quality of life in our community. It’s one of the ways we can take care of one another.
Membership starts at just $50 a year for an individual or $80 for a household, with sliding-scale options available. We also offer a $150 Phinney Funder level, with the option to contribute more if that’s available to you right now. PNA Membership not only comes with perks like discounts to ticketed events, freebies, and member-only communications, but it also affords you chance to be a part of a group of neighbors who show up to support their community. It’s a real win-win!
