The PNA Fixers Collective brings together handy neighbors, electrical engineers, experienced tinkerers, and anyone else who enjoys figuring out how things work—and helping other people learn to fix them. The volunteer-led group is built around a simple idea: restore rather than replace.
Bring in a broken lamp, fan, microwave, space heater, small appliance, or other household item and volunteers will help you diagnose the problem, walk you through possible repairs, and, when possible, get it working again right on the spot.
The general rule is easy: if you can carry it, the Fixers can take a look.
And this isn’t just a drop-off repair service. The Fixers Collective is all about sharing knowledge and rediscovering the increasingly lost art of tinkering. You’ll have a chance to work alongside volunteers, learn more about how your stuff actually works, and perhaps pick up some basic repair and maintenance skills for the next time something breaks.
Best of all, the Fixers Collective is free.
So dig out that lamp that’s been sitting in the basement, the fan that mysteriously stopped spinning, or that small appliance you’ve been meaning to replace. At worst, you’ll leave knowing a little more about why it stopped working. At best, you might head home with a perfectly functional gadget and the satisfaction of knowing you fixed it instead of throwing it away.
