A new school year brings new and returning programs to Illumination Learning Studio

by | Sep 11, 2026

Thereโ€™s something special about the start of a new school yearโ€”the familiar faces, new friends, fresh ideas, and excitement about what comes next. At Illumination Learning Studio (ILS) in Greenwood, the new school year is bringing a few changes, including the return of shared experiences for Preschool and PreK students and expanded Saturday music programming.

Preschool & PreK Together Again in Greenwood

This year, ILS is bringing back more opportunities for its Preschool and PreK students to mingle and build relationships throughout the day, while maintaining separate classrooms for age-appropriate learning.

The two groups will come together during snack time and outdoor walks, giving children additional opportunities for conversation, play, and friendships across classrooms. During classroom time, they’ll return to their individual groups for focused exploration through drama, visual art, letters, writing, and other weekly learning units.

Itโ€™s an approach designed to give children the best of both worlds: opportunities to develop independence and confidence within their own classroom communities while also building relationships with other children and teachers throughout the studio.

Fine arts remain at the heart of ILSโ€™s approach to early learning. Through drama, visual art, music, and movement, children are encouraged to explore ideas, express themselves, collaborate with others, and develop their own creative voices.

More Music for Saturday Mornings

ILS is also expanding its weekend offerings with two Saturday music classes designed for different stages of early musical development.

The fall session begins with a trial class on September 12, followed by 10-week sessions. Learn more here.

Music & Movement | Ages 18 Monthsโ€“3 Years

ILSโ€™s popular Music & Movement class returns for its youngest musicians. This caregiver-and-child class introduces children to music through singing, movement, and playful exploration.

Itโ€™s an opportunity for little ones to experiment with sound, listen, move, and make music alongside someone they love.

Music Makers | Ages 4โ€“6

New this year is Music Makers, a drop-off introductory music class for children ages 4โ€“6.

Designed for children ready for more independent learning, Music Makers introduces participants to singing, rhythm, piano, listening games, musical patterns, and more. Along the way, children begin developing skills that support confident musicianship, including listening, rhythm, musical memory, coordination, focus, and independence.

Together, the two classes offer a musical pathway that can grow along with childrenโ€”from their first playful experiences making music with a caregiver to more intentional and independent musical exploration.

A New Year of Making, Moving, Creating & Growing

Whether itโ€™s collaborating on an art project, sharing a snack with a new friend, experimenting with an instrument, or discovering a new way to express an idea, ILSโ€™s programs are built around giving children opportunities to create, explore, connect, and discover what they can do.

Families interested in the September 12 trial music classes or upcoming 10-week sessions can learn more about the Saturday music programs through Illumination Learning Studioโ€™s Music & Movement page.
