Piano Nobile, the architecture, interiors, and landscape design studio located in the Phinney Center’s lower brick building, is back with another packed season of creative workshops and events.

From block printing and cyanotypes to clay, bookbinding, drawing, and color theory, the upcoming schedule offers plenty of opportunities to learn something new and make something with your own hands. Most workshops are designed for ages 13 and up, with a few options for younger artists and families.

Seattle Made Passport Week Open Studio

Piano Nobile is participating in Seattle Made Week for the first time! Stop by the studio as part of this citywide celebration of local makers, shop Piano Nobile textiles, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how their designs are printed.

The Printmaking Workshop: Introduction to Block Printing

Thursday, September 10 | 5–8 pm
Friday, February 12 | 6–9 pm — Valentine’s Edition

Learn the basics of block printing as you design, carve, and print your own handmade artwork. This beginner-friendly class walks participants through creating a simple hand-drawn design, transferring it to a rubber block, carving it, and making finished prints.

The Cyanotype Workshop: Printing with Photographic Negatives

Transform photographs into handmade cyanotype prints using this historic photographic process. Participants will create one-of-a-kind prints on fine art papers and learn techniques they can continue experimenting with at home.
