Seventeen years ago, Jamie Jockwig, founder of Baraka Gems, opened the doors to his jewelry business at 8218 Greenwood Avenue with a couple of Tanzanites in his pocket and a clear mission. His vision was built on three guiding principles: create exceptional fine jewelry, provide a level of customer care unmatched in the Seattle area, and build a business whose success could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
That commitment continues today. Through Baraka Gems’ sister nonprofit, A Ring of Hope, the company helps support vulnerable children around the world, ensuring that every milestone the business reaches extends beyond its showroom walls.
Over the past 17 years, Baraka Gems has earned a reputation for creating breathtaking one-of-a-kind custom jewelry and thoughtfully repurposing treasured heirlooms into new pieces designed to last for generations. In addition to its custom design work, the shop is home to a full-service jewelry repair department and a carefully curated collection of vintage and estate jewelry, colored gemstones, and diamonds.
For its first eleven years, Baraka Gems was something of a hidden treasure tucked away in Ballard. Six years ago, the business found its home in PhinneyWood at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and North 83rd Street, where its inviting showroom and beautifully curated window displays have become a neighborhood fixture.
