Built on the belief that travel expands perspectives and deepens our understanding of the world, Yoshi brings together thoughtfully curated products, books, and experiences designed to inspire people to explore more thoughtfully and travel more beautifully.
The store’s name is a personal story. Yoshi is the nickname of founder Dani May’s husband and favorite travel companion. Over the years, the two have explored the world together, collecting stories and a deep appreciation for the connections that travel makes possible. The word also carries meaningful interpretations across cultures. In Japanese, Yoshi is associated with excellence and respect, and is often used as an enthusiastic “Okay, let’s do it!” In Hebrew, it means “to support.” Together, those meanings became the foundation of the store: helping people experience the world with curiosity, confidence, and consideration for both people and planet. After years of calling PhinneyWood home, Dani set out to create the kind of store she wished existed whenever she was preparing for her own travels.
Yoshi is the first retail concept of its kindโa destination dedicated entirely to modern travel. Not outdoor travel. Not rugged travel. Modern travel.
Inside, visitors will discover a carefully curated collection of luggage, bags, travel accessories, technology, wellness products, gifts, and one of Seattle’s most distinctive selections of travel books. Every item is selected for exceptional design, purposeful function, and a commitment to sustainability. Many of the brands carried at Yoshi are exclusive, difficult to find elsewhere, or making their debut in the Pacific Northwest.
The idea grew from a frustration many travelers know well. Preparing for a trip often means shopping across multiple stores and websites for luggage, personal care, gadgets, and travel essentials. Yoshi brings those categories together in one place, creating an experience that is as inspiring as it is useful.
Yoshi is curated for people who appreciate style, thoughtful details, cultural curiosity, and products where design and function are equally important. Whether you’re planning a weekend spa getaway, a month in Spain or simply searching for inspiration for your next destination, the store offers both practical solutions and fresh perspectives.
Beyond retail, Yoshi will host cultural events, author talks, destination-focused gatherings, and community experiences throughout the yearโcelebrating the people, stories, and ideas that make travel meaningful.
At its heart, Yoshi exists to inspire curiosity about the world. Because every meaningful travel experience begins long before departureโwith the desire to understand a place, its people, and its stories.
