Neighbors in PhinneyWood will soon have an opportunity to come together for an important conversation about the future of housing in our community—and everyone is invited to take part.

A new community event, “Welcome Affordable Homes to Phinney,” is bringing neighbors together to learn more about affordable and social housing, ask questions, and explore how these efforts can shape a more inclusive and connected neighborhood. Organized by local housing advocates, the April 30th gathering is designed to be welcoming, accessible, and informative—whether you’re deeply engaged in housing issues or just beginning to learn more. Start time is 6pm at the new Woodland View Apartments at 5819 Phiinney Ave N (the former and future home of A la Mode Pies).

If you’re interested in learning more or want to have a voice in the future of housing in PhinneyWood, consider attending. You can learn more and register here.

Across Seattle, there’s growing momentum around expanding housing options and creating more stable, affordable homes for people of all ages, incomes, and family types. Many community groups are working to build “connected communities” with a wider range of housing choices, recognizing that access to stable housing supports everything from education to long-term neighborhood vitality.

This event is a chance to bring that broader conversation directly into PhinneyWood. Attendees can expect a welcoming environment where neighbors can hear updates, share perspectives, and better understand how affordable housing initiatives could impact the neighborhood. Events like this are also an opportunity to get involved—whether that means staying informed, participating in future conversations, or simply connecting with others who care about the future of the community.

Most importantly, this is about showing up for the neighborhood and being part of the conversation. As PhinneyWood continues to grow and evolve, community input plays a key role in shaping what comes next. Whether you’re curious, passionate, or just want to listen and learn, this is a meaningful opportunity to engage with neighbors and be part of an important local conversation.
