Local Designer Opens Studio to Share ‘Slow Fashion’ Process This April

by | Mar 31, 2026

Engayla, a Crown Hill-based wearable art brand, is opening its studio doors to the public on three Saturdays this April: April 4th, April 18th, and April 25th, from 10am to 3pm. Admission is free.

Designer and maker Angela Ehrig creates everything by hand in her Crown Hill studio — one-of-a-kind jackets, tops, scarves, handbags, and jewelry — using natural fibers and techniques like botanical eco-printing with plant-based dyes. Visitors are welcome to come in, see work in progress, try pieces on, and hear the story behind each creation.

“This is slow fashion in the truest sense,” says Ehrig. “Every piece is made by hand, in small batches or one of a kind. The Open Studio is a chance for neighbors to experience that directly.”

Ehrig, who grew up in Germany learning to sew from her mother, has been building her craft practice in the Crown Hill/Greenwood area for years. Her work is rooted in European craftsmanship traditions and Pacific Northwest aesthetics.

In addition to the Open Studio dates, Ehrig will be showing at the Spring Best of the Northwest Show on April 11th and 12th.

Open Studio Dates: April 4th, April 18th, April 25th — 10am to 3pm, 10045 Dibble Ave. N.W., Seattle, WA 98177

Free admission. All are welcome.
