PIANO NOBILE is an architecture, interiors, and landscape design studio based in the Phinney Center’s lower brick building. Throughout the year, they offer a wide variety of art-based workshops and classes for all to enjoy.

The Printmaking Workshop: Introduction to Block Printing

Thursday, March 12 | 5–8 pm

Learn the basics of block printing as you design, carve, and print your own handmade artwork. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll create a simple design from hand-drawn elements, carve it into a rubber block, and produce a series of prints to take home.

The Letterpress Workshop: Color Theory and the Printing Press

Explore color theory through the lens of letterpress printing, inspired by the analytical approach of Paul Klee and the Bauhaus movement. Participants will study color relationships while working hands-on with the printing press.

The Photographic Workshop: Cyanotype Printing

Transform your photographs into beautiful, handmade cyanotype prints. This workshop introduces a historic photographic process while guiding participants through creating one-of-a-kind prints on fine art papers—and learning how to continue the process at home.

The Cyanotype Workshop: Printing on Silk + Cotton

Tuesday, April 14 | 6–9 pm

Cyanotype has been a beloved art form for over 180 years. In this workshop, participants will create stunning wearable art by printing cyanotypes directly onto silk and cotton fabrics.

The Color Theory Workshop: Color in Everyday Life

Thursday, April 2 | 6–9 pm

Using hands-on exercises with paper and paint, this workshop explores color relationships based on Josef Albers’ Interaction of Color. Participants will deepen their understanding of how color functions in art and everyday life.


The Clay Workshop: Tiny Architecture

Saturday, April 25 | 1–5 pm

Design and build your own tiny village out of clay in this playful, sculptural workshop that blends imagination with architectural form.

The Drawing Workshop: Bold Landscape Miniatures

Learn the basics of working with oil pastels while creating a series of bold, expressive landscape miniatures on fine art papers.


The Drawing Workshop: Sketching Seattle Architecture

Sunday, May 31 | 1–4 pm

Draw and paint our local vernacular architecture, from classic Craftsman-style porches to lush, terraced gardens that define the Seattle landscape.
