The curtain has risen on a very special year for Taproot Theatre Company as they celebrate a remarkable milestone: 50 years of bringing live theatre to the Pacific Northwest. This anniversary season is built around stories that make us laugh, think deeply, connect to one another, and feel joy in community. It all begins with a world premiere adaptation of Till We Have Faces, a mythic and powerful retelling of the ancient Cupid and Psyche legend that explores love, faith, beauty, doubt, and the unbreakable bonds of family.
As the season unfolds through the year, audiences will be swept up in an exuberant musical celebration with Ain’t Misbehavin’, where the joyful rhythms and soulful legacy of jazz legend Fats Waller fill the stage with energy and spirit. Following that will be Neil Simon’s beloved comedy Barefoot in the Park, a charming and witty look at newlywed life that’s sure to make audiences laugh out loud. Summer brings the colorful and classic tale of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where timeless music and heart-felt storytelling invite theatre-goers of all ages to revel in hope and forgiveness. The season concludes with Conscience, a stirring regional premiere rooted in history, telling the compelling story of U.S. Senator Margaret Chase Smith’s courageous stand against McCarthyism.
Throughout 2026 Taproot will welcome both longtime fans and newcomers into its Jewell Mainstage, offering seats—along with subscriptions that provide savings and flexibility—for a year of unforgettable performances. Whether you’re drawn to new works that spark conversation or classics that warm the heart, this anniversary season promises to be a celebration of the stories that connect us, remind us of the power of live theatre, and inspire hope
