Your hair is an extension of your identity —- it’s where your personality can truly shine. No Harm is a hair salon that provides a safe, inclusive space for everyone to tap into their creativity and find a hair style that makes you feel bold, confident, and authentically you.
No Harm recently moved their mission-rooted hair salon to the neighborhood, right next door to the Phinney Center at 6512 Phinney Avenue. No Harm is led by partners Anita and Andy, who bring over two decades worth of collective styling experience. They struck out on their own in 2020 with the desire to provide gender-affirming hair care for queer and trans folks.
After working for larger salons, Anita and Andy saw the way that traditional hair salons were under-serving the queer community. No Harm was created to offer a non judgemental, safe space for folks to explore their identity through hair styles tailored to each client.
Stepping into No Harm feels like walking into your friend’s living room. Anita and Andy have thoughtfully infused the space with just the right amount of comfort and creativity. They even brought their infamous tiger wall, a vibrant print that showcases their fierce dedication to their client’s hair story. You’ll also be greeted by two sweet dogs, Rainier and Mama, that add to the ease of the space.
Everyone is welcome at No Harm, but Anita and Andy are particularly dedicated to providing gender-affirming care to queer and trans folks. Their work focuses on building their clients’ confidence with hair styles that feel authentic to their identity.
Anita and Andy accomplish this by providing hair care that breaks down many of the gendered stereotypes traditionally tied to hair styles. From their experience, many trans folks are searching for hair care that helps with the vulnerability of transitioning. Anita and Andy are especially skilled at educating their clients about new hair care routines, regardless of where you are in your journey. If you’re seeking hair care that goes the extra mile, No Harm is just the place to explore styles that help you step into your confidence and find a style that feels uniquely you.
In order to accomplish their goal of tailored hair care, No Harm uses a time-based pricing structure. This enables Anita and Andy to truly customize their services for each client’s needs and removes the rigidity of traditional salon pricing structures that often charge certain customers more than others. You can rest assured that what you pay at No Harm matches the effort put into your care.
In addition to their gender-affirming services, Anita and Andy place a priority on vegan products that are affordable and accessible. After working for more corporate salons that pushed expensive, hard-to-find products, Anita and Andy wanted to pivot and focus on products that anyone can find in everyday stores. Their perspective is “if I wouldn’t buy it, I wouldn’t give it to our clients.” While their salon doesn’t focus on product sales, they will help you craft a care routine and even seek out specific products if you have a preference.
People seeking a personalized approach to color would feel right at home at No Harm. Coloring is a long journey and Anita is equipped to help you along the way. To ensure a personalized approach to coloring, Anita asks each prospective client to fill out a color form to ensure No Harm is the right fit for their needs. This process allows Anita to understand your vision, establish realistic expectations, and build a treatment to achieve your dream hair color.
No Harm’s new space in Phinney Ridge also contains a bonus room that Anita and Andy are hoping to fill with another artist. They are actively seeking someone who shares their passion for inclusive, safe spaces to provide gender affirming care. Anita and Andy feel a tattoo artist would blend well into their space, but are also open to other artists that share their mission. If this sounds like you, stop by No Harm or reach out to Anita and Andy to discuss this opportunity.
Are you ready for a hair style that feels fierce, authentic, and unapologetically you? Then you’ll fit right in at No Harm.
