PhinneyWood area dog owners, your furry friends have a new place to get a fine haircut! Alexis Baker, who established Puget Hound Grooming in 2020 out of her home, has opened her first storefront location at 7619 Greenwood Ave, next to the Fortuna Italian sandwich shop.

What sets Puget Hound apart from other dog grooming salons? Alexis is certified in Fear-Free Grooming, a specialized approach that focuses on helping dogs feel safe, calm, and respected throughout their grooming experience. Alexis has 10+ years of experience in dog grooming. She started her career working in commercial pet stores and soon realized their environment was stressful to the pets. After spending time in smaller grooming facilities that aligned better to her values, she decided to break out on her own and establish her own grooming business with a mission to create a genuinely compassionate environment for dog grooming. โ€œGrooming shouldnโ€™t be traumatic. It should be trust-building.โ€ You can read more about her approach on the Puget Hound Grooming website.

Alexis started her business in her Belltown apartment where she built a solid client base before moving to the PhinneyWood neighborhood in 2024. Her client list has continued to expand and she is eager to bring on new groomers and ensure they are trained in effective, fear-free techniques for grooming pups. Her PhinneyWood storefront offers convenient parking in front for drop-offs and pickups. Alexis envisions the space as more than just a salon; she calls it โ€œa sanctuary for pups and a training ground for groomers who believe in kindness-first practices.โ€ For dog owners looking for a stress-free grooming experience that prioritizes their petโ€™s comfort and well-being, Puget Hound Grooming is a great addition to the neighborhood!

Puget Hound is open 5 days a week, from 8am – 4pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You can book appointments online here.
