Piano Nobile is an architecture, interiors, and landscape design studio housed in the historic brick building of the Phinney Neighborhood Association. They build projects driven by narrative, lived experience, and the profound belief in the beauty of everyday life which draws us together. In addition to architectural design work, they host a wide array of creative classes in their beautiful space! Here are their fall offerings:

Printmaking Workshop: Learn the basics of block printing as you design, carve, and print your own handmade artwork. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll create a simple design from your own hand-drawn elements, then transfer and carve it into a rubber block. Guest Instructor: Angelique Guina, the Seattle-based printmaker behind Acquina Art.

Jewelry Workshop: Learn the basics of earring design and creation with Irene Wood, the jeweler behind local brand History + Industry. Choose from an assortment of beads and stones collected from around the world. Friday, 9/26, 10-12pm

Drawing Workshop: Learn the basics of working with oil pastels as you create a set of mini oil pastel drawings on fine art papers. Guest instructor: Teresa Stern, Seattle based visual artist with a background in architecture and sustainability. Saturday, 10/4, 10-1pm

Photographic Cyanotype Workshop: Transform your photos into beautiful, handmade cyanotype prints! You’ll get acquainted with this historic process, create one-of-a-kind prints on fine art papers, and learn how to continue your cyanotype adventures at home. Guest Instructor: Ollie Levy of Whalefern Arts. Seattle based painter, printmaker and nature photographer. Wednesday, 10/8, 6-9pm

Furoshiki Workshop: Two beautiful skills complement each other in this new workshop: learn the ancient art of Japanese gift-wrapping and the Shibori stitching techniques of Nui and Mokume. You’ll stitch three large organic cotton bandanas with intricate Shibori patterns, then dye them using natural dyes made from ground plants and iron to produce three unique colors. Guest Instructor: Christine Dennett of COMMAND knitwear, a naturally dyed fashion brand based in Seattle.

Cyanotype Fabric Workshop: Cyanotype has been a beloved art form for over 180 years. Try your hand at this magical process, and create a stunning piece of wearable art! Guest Instructor: Ollie Levy of Whalefern Arts. Seattle based painter, printmaker and nature photographer. Wednesday, 12/17, 6-9pm

Guest Workshop: Craft Cocktail- Paper Rose Wreaths: We are so excited to be hosting Andra and Jennifer of Craft Cocktail on November 6th from 6:30 – 9pm to teach how to make stunning rose paper wreaths, using vintage book pages. They will have a variety of wreath styles available to attach your roses onto, to make this a true design statement for your living space. Thursday, 11/6, 6:30-9pm
