Phinneywood author Bill Thorness wrote his latest book, about his father and his service in World War II, “to keep our family history alive,” he says, “and to learn how my family heritage has made me who I am.” “When I give talks about the book,” like the one he’ll be doing on October 1st at the Greenwood Senior Center at 1 p.m., “I’m finding that some audience members also carry those desires. It makes for a lively discussion,” he says.
Bill notes that one attendee at a previous talk had charted a path very similar to his as she researched her own father’s military history. Another had a raft of fascinating stories but writing about them was tough because of not knowing how to research family history.
