Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery, Washington State’s first cooperatively owned brewery, is proud to announce the tenth anniversary of the Greenwood taproom, marking a decade of member-driven craft beer, community building, and democratic spirit. The celebration culminates on August 15, 2025, with special festivities at the brewery located at 8570 Greenwood Ave N.

Since opening its doors, Flying Bike has stood out as a truly unique Seattle institution. As a democratically run, member-owned, and operated cooperative, its core mission has always been to create a welcoming and accessible space for all members of its diverse community. A distinguishing feature of Flying Bike is its commitment to its members, allowing them to directly influence the beers brewed on-site.

“Reaching our 10th anniversary is an incredible milestone that speaks volumes about the passion and dedication of our members, staff, and the wider Seattle community,” said Neha Gandhi, a member of the Brewery’s Board of Directors. “From our humble beginnings, we’ve remained true to our cooperative values, fostering a place where everyone has a voice in the beer we brew and the community we build. We’re so excited to celebrate this journey and look forward to many more years of shared successes and great beer.”

The anniversary celebration on August 15th will be a highlight, featuring the launch of the new Flying Bike app, designed to enhance the member experience. Attendees can also look forward to tasting a specially brewed collaborative beer, crafted by Flying Bike brewers past and present including Head Brewer Katherine Gooding (2024-Present), Assistant Brewer Gilly Barrera (2024-Present), former Head Brewer Kevin Forhan (2015-2024), former Assistant Brewer Jesse Young (2018-2022), and fill-in Brewer Skip Madsen (2020-2024). The quality and range of Flying Bike’s beers over the years are a testament to these hardworking brewers.

Over the past ten years, Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery has established itself not just as a brewery but as a vital community hub, which has been fostered by longstanding employees Jenna Lindner (2016-Present) and Josiah Green (2016-2025), demonstrating the power of a member-owned model in the craft beer industry. Its commitment to member-chosen brews and its pioneering cooperative structure continue to set it apart.Celebrate Anniversary Week with Flying Bike at these events!
