The Greenwood Community council will be holding their May meeting this Tuesday 5/20 from 6:30 – 7:50pm at the Greenwood Library (8016 Greenwood Ave N), entitled “Seattle’s New Approach to First Response and Neighborhood Crime Prevention.” All are welcome to attend, no RSVP needed.
After a few tumultuous years following the George Floyd murder, the defund the police movement and widespread turnover and resignations from the police force, Seattle’s approach to policing and first response has begun to evolve. At the May GCC meeting we’ll hear from Davonte Belle who is with the Community Assisted Response and Engagement department (the CARE team), Seattle’s new third branch of public safety own how Seattle Police, Seattle Fire and the CARE team work together to respond to calls for assistance.
We will also hear from Katelyn Yep, Crime Prevention Coordinator for Seattle Police North Precinct to discuss recent crime trends in Greenwood and nearby neighborhoods and strategies to increase personal and neighborhood safety.
Each speaker will provide a short presentation leaving time for your questions.
