Childish Things: beloved north Seattle children’s store welcomes new ownership

by | Jan 24, 2025

Childish Things, a local children’s resale boutique known for its commitment to sustainability and circular fashion, is entering a new chapter under new ownership. Longtime friends and business partners Becky Neff and Tracy Babcock have officially taken the reins of Childish Things, bringing with them over two decades of combined experience in apparel and retail. The duo’s shared passion for children’s fashion, sustainability, and community has already solidified the shop as a must-visit destination for families seeking high-quality, pre-loved items in a warm and welcoming environment.

More than just a resale shop, Childish Things is a community hub, offering an ever-changing selection of gently used children’s clothing (from preemie to size 8/10, with an expanding teen offering), maternity and nursing essentials, shoes, books, toys, gear, and accessories. With a carefully curated selection of new gifts and must-haves, the store blends affordability with eco-conscious shopping.

“Our vision is simple,” says Becky Neff. “We want to give families an affordable, sustainable alternative to fast fashion while making it easy and enjoyable to shop for their little ones.”

Becky and Tracy’s journey to ownership was shaped by their extensive experience in the apparel and retail industries. After spending nearly a decade working together at a Seattle-based fashion company, the duo knew their next step was to create a business that aligned with their values of sustainability, creativity, and community.

For Becky, whose love for children’s fashion began in high school, the opportunity to co-own a store like Childish Things is a dream come true. “I used to make baby clothes out of vintage blankets and sell them in antique stores—now, I get to bring that same passion to a thriving business in my own neighborhood.”

Tracy, a seasoned buyer and product development expert, shares that Childish Things is about more than just shopping—it’s about building lasting connections. “Families come in, trade what their kids have outgrown, and leave with something new-to-them. It’s a full-circle shopping experience, and we love being part of that journey.”

Childish Things makes it easy for families to participate in the circular fashion movement. Customers can bring in up to 25 gently used items at a time, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to sell or trade for store credit. This process ensures that high-quality children’s items stay in circulation and out of landfills, reinforcing the store’s commitment to sustainability.

Located in the heart of North Seattle, Childish Things invites families to explore its thoughtfully curated selection. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Stay updated on the latest arrivals, promotions, and events by subscribing to the Childish Things newsletter or following them on Instagram and Facebook.
