For 44 years, the PhinneyWood Winter Festival has been a celebration of artistry, community, and holiday spirit, but this year brings an exciting new addition: a Juried Art Show, in the Piano Nobile dedicated exhibition space on the 2nd floor of the Brick Building at the Phinney Center. With Piano Nobile’s generous support in donating this space to the festival, this unique art showcase elevates the festival’s offerings, spotlighting local talent in a distinctive gallery setting.
Adding further creative depth, Isabelle Robertson, co-owner of Piano Nobile, will lead a special “Block Printed Wrapping Paper Workshop” in their Art Studio. Festival attendees can craft their own hand-printed wrapping paper, an activity celebrating the beauty of handmade art just in time for the holiday season.
This year’s exhibit presents fine art pieces from a carefully curated selection of local artists, whose works bring a new layer of aesthetic vibrance to the Winter Festival. Featured artists include:
- Rachel Grunig – An emerging artist and natural dyer, Rachel’s work explores the intersection of local flora and seasonal transitions. Her process highlights the organic connection between our surroundings and the beauty they offer, crafted with colors derived from native plants. Follow Rachel on Instagram: @namanorthwest.
- Xin Lu – A dedicated oil painter originally from China, Xin’s artistic journey reflects resilience and a love for color that started in childhood. With training from the Modern Color Atelier at Seattle’s Gage Academy, Xin finds tranquility and expression in her art, blending urban and natural landscapes with evocative storytelling. Follow Xin on Instagram: @xinart_.
- Sabella Flagg – Known as “the monarq,” Sabella’s art practice integrates design, writing, and fine art to capture the synergy between self-discovery and environmental connection. Her multidisciplinary approach brings a rich diversity of thought and form to the Winter Festival. Follow Sabella on Instagram: @themonarq.
The Juried Art Show will open during festival hours on December 7th and 8th, inviting all festival-goers to engage with these unique artistic perspectives. For those looking to add art to their own collections, artwork will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the artists and the Phinney Neighborhood Association.
Join us for an unforgettable experience where holiday magic meets fine art at the PhinneyWood Winter Festival!
