With the PhinneyWood Winter Festival just around the corner – December 7th and 8th – here are a few of the talented local makers who’ll be showcasing their unique creations. This year, the festival will feature a diverse lineup of over 140 artisans and makers from the Pacific Northwest, and we’re excited to shine a spotlight on four makers who truly capture the heart of handcrafted artistry.
Cocoa Loves Grey brings warmth and charm to the holiday season with beautifully crafted ceramics that reflect the Pacific Northwest’s serene beauty. When asked what inspires her to create, she shared, “I am inspired by all the cute things around me every day! From animals to flowers, to clouds, to food, to all the colors around us. I draw inspiration from everything and anything and try to turn them into colorful and fun accessories.”
Founded by friends and Seattle Post-Intelligencer alumni Andrew Saeger and Veronica Velasco, Factory43 blends humor, screen printing expertise, and a passion for design in their original, high-quality graphic goods. Known for their whimsical illustrations and recognized by Communication Arts and the Society of Illustrators, Factory43 is a celebrated fixture in Seattle’s art scene. When asked about their favorite part of the #PNAWinterFestival, they shared, “It’s always such a nice atmosphere at the #PNAWinterFestival; everyone is so friendly, and it really helps us appreciate the season.”
Kristin Norman of Dahlia Glassworks brings the natural world to life in stunning stained glass creations, each piece telling a story inspired by the beauty of nature. When asked how she overcomes creative blocks, Kristin shared, “While I’m working on my glass art, I listen to music or audiobooks to help keep me focused. Both help block out any outside stress that may try to distract me.” Explore her work at the festival and online at dahliaglassworks.com.
Eleanor Doughty of Hand to Paper is an artist, illustrator, and traveler, often seen creating art on street corners. With a passion for capturing the spirit of city life, Eleanor’s work reflects the vibrant and ever-changing world around us. When facing creative blocks, Eleanor finds inspiration by “walking around outside in the city with my sketchbook, drawing things I find interesting or striking. It grounds me and helps me find inspiration in the unexpected.” Look out for her intricate illustrations and bring home a piece of her urban-inspired art.
These makers and many more await you at the PhinneyWood Winter Festival, where holiday shopping is transformed into a celebration of local creativity, connection, and community. Join us in supporting these extraordinary artists and find unique, handcrafted gifts that tell a story.
