What do R.E.M., Big Bertha, monsters, breadcrumbs and street trees have in common?
How about whales, tigers, fungi, rutabagas and fly fishing?
One more: what dots connect memoirs, kid books, outdoor guides, travel books, fiction, history, cooking, short stories and nature?
All these are the wide-ranging themes, interests, topics and pursuits of our 27 esteemed local authors at this year’s Holiday Bookfest, taking place Saturday, Nov. 23 in the Phinney Center’s blue building, 2-4 p.m.
Authors will be gathered to meet readers and sign books, but that’s not all.
- Hear short readings from some of the authors
- Meet reps from Seattle City of Literature
- Meet staff and students of the Bureau of Fearless Ideas
- Donate books to Books to Prisoners
“It’s a bit of a whirlwind, and I think lots of fun for everyone involved,” says Tom Nissley, Phinney Books proprietor, “and a nice chance both to meet some of the creative people who write and draw in our community and to stock up on signed books for your holiday gift list (or yourself).”
Phinney Books handles book sales, and as always a portion of the profits will go to BFI and the PNA. At the Holiday Bookfest, there’s a smiling author waiting to meet you, and a book for everyone on your list.
