Seattle is proposing to change zoning rules across the city, and PhinneyWood will be significantly impacted. One information session will be offered in each city council district, and the next one is Wednesday 11/6 at Madison Middle School. See complete list of info sessions in the graphic above.
The Greenwood Community Council (GCC) will focus on helping Greenwood residents and businesses understand and provide feedback, both during the comment period (ending December 20th), and during City Council debates as they amend and adopt the plan in 2025. Watch for more information soon on GCC meetings in November and December focused on how the zoning impacts will affect Greenwood.
What’s proposed in a nutshell:
- Greenwood Urban Village expanded and intensified: 100 block area surrounding 85th and Greenwood up-zoned up to 5 story apartments
- New neighborhood centers at Holman Rd., Phinney Ridge and West Green Lake: Smaller areas of apartments and townhouses
- 4 or 6 units per lot allowed in former single family lots depending on location and distance from transit
Here’s where to look for more information:
- Proposed Zoning Map: The City has prepared a very helpful map showing the changes proposed for every block, and pointing to useful context and resources.
- Zoning Engagement Hub: Provides an overview of the rezone process and links to information, including changes to Neighborhood Residential zones (formerly Single Family). Tabs at the top of the page show additional information.
- One Seattle Plan: The proposed Comprehensive Plan, and links to project documents, including the draft EIS.
What are your questions?
If you have questions about the zoning changes, send them to the GCC at [email protected]. They will be compiled, presented to City staff, and posted on their website.
