Verity Credit Union closing its Greenwood branch in December

Verity Credit Union has announced they will be closing its longstanding Greenwood branch on December 20, 2024. Per a spokesperson for Verity:

“This decision was made after carefully considering the branch network and member needs. As a purpose-driven financial cooperative, Verity Credit Union is dedicated to creating a positive social impact in the communities it serves. Verity has cherished its time in Greenwood and remains committed to supporting the community by investing in local initiatives and organizations that foster growth and empowerment.”

Access to accounts will be uninterrupted, and all affected employees have been offered positions at other branches. More information on Verity branches, including hours and services, can be found on their website. The closest branches to Greenwood are:

  • Wallingford (2.9 miles): 4545 Stone Way Seattle N, WA 98103  
  • Northgate (2.1 miles): 11027 Meridian Ave N., Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98133 

In alignment with its mission, Verity is offering selected nonprofit organizations an opportunity to apply for a $5000 grant of unrestricted support through their Microgrant Program. Applications will be accepted through October 31, 2024, an extended deadline. Nonprofit organizations with limited access to traditional funding due to size, age, or tax-exemption status are strongly encouraged to apply.
