The Big One is Coming – The PhinneyWood Art Walk that is – Friday September 13th (6-9pm) and Saturday September 14th (Noon-5pm). The Phinney Center’s Blue Building at 6532 Phinney Ave will be full of art including a Pop Up Art Gallery in room 6 featuring local artists Dave Eggleston, Angela Fleet, and Aileen Monahan.
The trio met through Gage Academy’s Modern Color Atelier, directed by Kimberly Trowbridge, an
intensive multi-year program, teaching the foundations of Modernist painting through relationships of
color, form and value. Sharing an artistic language and a desire to build meaningful art practices for
themselves, the three have come together to create this show as a culmination of their current work.
All three are observational artists, using what they see around them as the inspiration and
foundation for their work. They want to engage the viewer in a conversation with the painting, a
springboard for reflection, using color, shape, perspective, and composition. Their creative process is
dynamic, the painting changing as a story is explored. Look closely and you’ll see the residue of
changes. The blend of the materials, of intentional and unplanned, of reality and abstraction, are all
key to the storytelling resulting in an eclectic mix of works from three artists who describe the world
as they see it.
Be sure to also check out all of the other artists up and down Phinney/Greenwood in addition to the
other shows going on in the Phinney Center!
