Aurora Commons, located at 8914 Aurora Ave N, is a welcoming space for our unhoused neighbors to rest, prepare a meal, connect to resources and collectively create a healthy and vibrant community. The Commons is a space for authenticity and conversation, to bring the wider community to the table to learn from one another, to be transformed by one another, and to embrace one another.
Of the many services The Commons offers, access to clothing is one of their highest demands. Men’s clothing is something they have a hard time keeping in stock, and they are inviting you to clear out your superfluous gear Marie Kondo-style (does it spark joy?) and bring your unused and useful gear to one of 4 donation stations in PhinneyWood.
What do they need? A god rule of thumb is: literally anything except formal clothing. So, no need for button-up shirts, slacks, blazers, or formal shoes. Everything else is great and welcome! The highest-need items are:
- Jeans, khakis, hiking pants, or joggers
- Jackets & coats, preferably rain-resistant or waterproof
- Shoes, casual streetwear, running or hiking shoes & boots
- Layering or thermal tops & bottoms
- New boxers & underwear
For the entire month of August, you can bring donations to these donation stations:
- Phinney Center (6532 Phinney Ave N): M-F 9am – 9:30pm; Sat 9am – 5pm; Sun 1-5pm
- HomeStreet Bank (7307 Greenwood Ave N): M-Th 9am – 5pm; Fri 9am – 6pm
- Vitality Pilates (7216 Greenwood Ave N)
- Salmon Bay Community Lending (7919 Greenwood Ave N)
