Big News: PhinneyWood.com debuts brand new site!

by | Jan 8, 2024

After more than 15 years on the original scaffolding of PhinneyWood.com, we are VERY excited to have transitioned as of today to a brand new site. While the old site was quaint and familiar, it had limited functionality, the events listings have been broken for more than a year, and we were unable to upgrade the antiquated platform it was built upon.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Seattle Office of Economic Development in 2023, we now have an attractive new site that is functional and also has some extra bells and whistles for the community. OED saw that the Blog was not up to snuff and collaborated with the Phinney Neighborhood Association to create a this new one that will benefit the neighborhood and our business district in a stronger fashion. The blog is a very popular destination for this community, with over 20,000 unique users each month – a huge number for a hyperlocal blog.

In addition to being a more functional website and inviting to visit, this new version has or will have:

  • A robust and easy-to-use Events section purely dedicated to things that are happening in PhinneyWood. This free service will allow local businesses, citizen groups, and organizations to let everyone know what is happening in the neighborhood, and help create community with us all.
  • Business listings for every business in the area, from the Zoo all the way to 90th and including the 65th St. spur and 85th St. extensions. Each listing can be designed and controlled by the business themselves, and they can post events, specials, coupons, and details to help locals and far-flung folks find what they are looking for.
  • A hyperlocal employment section. Looking for a job within walking distance of your PhinneyWood home? Look no farther than the blog, which will give those same aforementioned businesses the ability to freely post P/T and F/T positions as they become available.
  • A Lost and Found page, something that was continually requested throughout the years with our old site.
  • Affordable advertising opportunities. For just $150/month, businesses and organizations can utilize excellent visible space within the Blog to get the word out about who they are and what they do. In addition to the 20,000 unique users, we also boast over 6,000 followers on Facebook and on X.

We hope you enjoy the new look, feel, and functionality of the PhinneyWood Blog. We, of course, remain absolutely dedicated to hyperlocal news from our neighborhood, and look forward to bringing you the best coverage of the greatest community in all of Seattle.
