All classes are on Monday evenings from 6-8pm. The cost ranges from $85-100 per person and includes cheese, charcuterie, Ben’s Bread. Limit of 10 attendees per class, which will be held at the Doe Bay Wine Company at 7009 Greenwood Ave N.

WINE WITH FRIENDS – THE BASICS OF TASTE, TECHNIQUE & BUYING (11/6). We have a hunch that you’re at least a little interested in wine or you wouldn’t be here – and we are thrilled! Our Wine Basics class approaches the big, intimidating world of wine and seeks to give students a chance to learn how to approach tasting and buying wine with confidence, humor, and enjoyment.  In this 2-hour class, we will engage in easy tasting and sensory training while exploring a variety of international and domestic bottles chosen to illuminate the discussion. Students will leave this class feeling more confident in their ability to open, assess, and enjoy a bottle of wine as well as shop the supermarket wine aisle with style. Let’s drink wine together, shall we?

BEAUJOLAIS – HEY, HEY, HEY! (11/20). Just in time for the Holidays and the delicious meals that come with them, may we present one of our favorite grape varieties and wine regions in the world for this time of year? GAMAY & Beaujolais! Get out of the house for a fun night of celebration and education before the family dinners this week. Emily will be opening some of her favorite Cru Beaujolais and talking about winemakers, terroir, common winemaking techniques, and history of the region.  Prepare to fall in love with Gamay if you haven’t already.

NATURAL WINE – WHAT IS IT AND WHY DOES IT MATTER? (12/4). Everyone wants an answer to this question or at the very least, wants to know where the natural wine IS. People love and hate natural wine. Sometimes both! The term “natural wine” has become so pervasive in the world of wine in the last decade that winemakers, farmers, and retailers have clamored to stay ahead of the curve and remain current (hip, even). However, natural wine has been with us for a very long time. In this class, the idea and definition of natural wine will be explored and discussed, as we indulge our senses in a broad scope of wines that may be defined as such.  Come with an open mind and ready to joyfully explore!

SPARKLING WINE: THE BASICS OF STYLE (12/18). Explore the mysterious world of sparkling wine production. What is the difference between a Crémant, Pet-Nat, Champagne, and Prosecco? How are these made and what makes them taste differently? Jump into the height of the season with a wild assortment of beautiful sparkling wines and the informational chops to know what you’re drinking! What makes Champagne so expensive (and so delicious) anyways? Students will have the opportunity to indulge in a variety of beautiful sparkling while learning about the history, geography and technique behind the magic that makes bubbles everyone’s favorite drink (or Coco Chanel’s, at the very least).
