Neighborhood invited to St. Francis Blessing of the Animals this Sunday

by | Oct 5, 2023

Friar Mir Plemmons, Order of Ecumenical Franciscans, is the pastor of Holy Questions Ecumenical Catholic Community. Since St. Francis is the patron saint of animals, it iss traditional to offer a Blessing of the Animals around St. Francis’ Day, October 4. Friar Mir loves giving out blessings and scritches, so Holy Questions wants to offer a pet blessing for anyone who wants to bring their beloved pets – or a picture or token of them.

Please keep in mind that there could be a LOT of species there, so take this into account to make sure all of our beloved animals stay safe. Anyone and any pet is welcome, just make plans for the safety and comfort of those who might be stressed by unfamiliar smells and sounds.

There will also be a blessing for the wild and feral creatures in our neighborhoods, and those kept in Woodland Park Zoo as well. There will be St. Francis “bless my pet” medallions and cards, and of course you can take pictures – not quite a Santa photo op, but another fun one for you and your furry, scaled, and/or feathered friends.
