Third annual Couth Buzzard Jazz Festival is this weekend

If you don’t want to brave the crowds at the Seattle Center for the Folk Life Festival this Memorial Day weekend, come to Couth Buzzard Books for its third annual Jazz Festival, in conjunction with Earshot Jazz. Couth Buzzard is at 8310 Greenwood Ave. N.
Tickets are $40 for a full Festival Pass; $25 for a day pass; $15 for opening night events; or $10 for a single event.

Friday:
7:30 p.m. – Orville Johnson
8:30 p.m. – Jump Monkeys
Saturday:
1 p.m. – Scoty Lee
2 p.m. – Jean Mischler/Charlie Heistand
3 p.m. – Julie Cresswell
4 p.m. – Joanne Klein
7 p.m. – Brad Papineau Trio
8 p.m. – Miles Davis Tribute Band, directed by Kenny Mandell, featuring: Lance Lu on drums; Mikel Rollins on bass; Ian Gwin on piano; Al Pignataro on guitar; Mike Connors on bari sax; Kenny Mandell on tenor sax; Katie Webster on alto sax; and Jenny Ziefel on clarinets.
Sunday:
2-4:30 p.m. – Couth jazz jam session hosted by Kenny Mandell and the Couth All-Stars
7 p.m. – Seth Alexander Group
8 p.m. – My Favorite Things Band featuring: Don Berman on drums; Bruce Barnard on guitar; Marty Hasegawa on bass; Jim Knodle on trumpet; and Dick Valentine on woodwinds.
Monday:
1 p.m. – Matt Benham/solo guitar
2 p.m. – The Likes Of is an experimental trio with roots in jazz, classical and improvised music. Members are Carol J Levin , electric harp; Jenny Ziefel , assorted reeds; and Schraepfer Harvey, percussion.
3 p.m. – Simon Henneman/solo guitar
4 p.m. – Jim Knodle/solo trumpet
5 p.m. – Neil Welch/solo sax
6 p.m. – 3 CORNERS CD release: Tim Volpicella on guitar, effects; Curtis Dahl on keyboards; Kenny Mandell on woodwinds, percussion.
