Jazz festival and theater in Greenwood-Phinney Ridge this weekend

Taproot Theatre continues its run of “Lady Windermere’s Fan,” at 204 N. 85th St.
Earshot Jazz and Couth Buzzard Books present the third annual Community Jazz Fest at 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., Friday evening through Monday. Click here for the full schedule.
Seattle Parks and Recreation will open two lifeguarded beaches, two outdoor pools and nine spray parks for the summer season this weekend.
Remember that Monday is Memorial Day, so schools, banks and all government offices will be closed. Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery at 11111 Aurora Ave. N. will host its annual Memorial Day Celebration, beginning with the 7 a.m. flag placement at the 5,000 markers at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, followed by a concert at 1:30 p.m., Service of Remembrance at 2 p.m., and a guided tour of Medal of Honor recipients at the cemetery at 3:15 p.m.
Traffic-wise this weekend:

  • Northwest Folklife Festival happens at Seattle Center Friday through Monday.
  • Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins at Safeco Field at 7:10 p.m. Friday, 7:10 p.m. Saturday, and 1:10 p.m. Sunday; and against the Texas Rangers at 1:10 p.m. Monday.
  • Seattle Sounders vs. Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field at 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • Metro Transit operates its Sunday Schedule on Monday.
