Just a reminder that the Phinney Ridge Community Council meets at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.
The main topic on the agenda is a discussion of “Age Friendly Communities Making Seattle a Great Place to Grow Up and Grow Old.”
Seattle is part of Age Friendly Cities, a national initiative focusing on eight “domains” of livability for every age–including housing, transportation, quality of life and access to community assets. Learn how Seattle ranks and criteria for judging city policy, zoning changes and transportation modes. Lee Harper, Executive Director of Phinney Center and Terry Cook, PNA Village and PRCC Board Member will discuss Greenwood Senior Center and making Seattle a leading Age Friendly City.
After that discussion, the PRCC will discuss land use policy reports, including the city’s Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda and Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA), as well as the group SCALE’s appeal of MHA; development updates; and the city’s new parking regulations, which passed the City Council yesterday, and which increases the number of residential areas now considered near “frequent transit” so that developers don’t have to include parking. They’ll also look ahead to the May 1 meeting, which will be the PRCC’s annual meeting and election of new board members.
