Artwalk, fiddle player, stand-up comedy and traditional Indian Holi Festival of Colors this weekend in Phinney Ridge and Greenwood

PhinneyWood Art Up and Chow Down Artwalk is from 6-9 p.m. Friday at dozens of galleries and other venues throughout the neighborhood, including the Phinney Center Gallery, which is hosting the opening reception for 23 artists in the Northwest Fine Arts Competition. Check out the Artwalk website for a list of all participating venues and artists.

Pacific NW Folklore Society presents Canadian traditional fiddle player Jocelyn Pettit at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. Free, but a $10 donation is suggested.

With grace and passion, Jocelyn delivers an engaging and uplifting performance of original and traditional music, inspired from the Celtic and World music cultures of – Cape Breton, Québec, Ireland, Scotland, Brittany (France), Galicia (Spain), and Scandinavia. Jocelyn has ignited stages across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Europe. She has earned multiple award nominations, including “World Artist of the Year” and “Young Performer of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. The band includes Siew Wan Khoo (piano, fiddle, vocals), Joel Pettit (bodhrán, cajón, vocals), Erik Musseau (whistles), and a guest guitarist.

Holi Festival of Colors is from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the lower parking lot. This traditional Indian festival features music, dance, storytelling, food, and a fun color fight. Tickets are $10 (ages 5 and under are free), but there is a pay-what-you-can option.

One of the Good Ones (stand-up comedy) starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Pocket Theatre, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N.

Traffic-wise this weekend:

  • Lorde performs in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at KeyArena.
  • The Roadshow Concert is at 6 p.m. Saturday at KeyArena.
  • Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show is Saturday and Sunday at CenturyLink Field Event Center.
  • Looking ahead to next week: Maintenance on the Ballard Bridge will close the northbound curb lane from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 12-16.

And a reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, so remember to set your clocks ahead by one hour.
