Holiday plays, concerts, comedy and more in Greenwood-Phinney this weekend

Here are highlights of what’s happening in and around our neighborhood this weekend. Check our Events calendar for more.
Taproot Theatre, 204 N. 85th St., has two holiday productions. “A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration” on the Jewell Mainstage, and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
Two Greenwood Elementary students, second-grader Chloe Steinburg and fifth-grader Miranda Power, star in Seattle Musical Theatre’s production of “Annie,” opening tonight at 7120 62nd Ave. NE. You can buy tickets here.
Phinney Neighborhood Association is hosting its annual Winter Festival and Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., is hosting a community discussion group from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday; and First Sundays Blues Open Jam Session from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Music Center of the Northwest, 901 N 96th St., is hosting a Student Recital at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and a Ladies Musical Club of Seattle free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Kortney’s (Stand-Up Style) Comedy Showcase from 8-9:30 p.m. Saturday at Naked City Brewery & Taphouse, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N.
Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism’s Annual Holiday Sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 108 NW 83rd St.
Remember that super cool family in Ballard that built a Harry Potter-themed Diagon Alley in their driveway for Halloween? It’s staying up through New Year’s Eve and this weekend Dumbledore Santa will be there from 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It’s free to walk through, but they’re collecting donations for pancreatic cancer research, in honor of a friend who recently died from the disease. Address is 7514 13th Ave. NW (across the street from Whittier Elementary). It’s open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Traffic-wise this weekend:

  • Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition will close streets around Westlake Center mall and Westlake Park Friday evening. Buses will be rerouted, so check Metro’s Service Advisories page.
  • A Perfect Circle concert at WaMu Theater at CenturyLink Field at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
  • Deadbeats Seattle concert at WaMu Theater at CenturyLink Field at 7 p.m. Saturday.
  • Seahawks play Philadelphia Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
