After several months of a pilot program at eight branches, Seattle Public Library has launched “Peak Picks” at every branch in the system. Peak Peaks are best-sellers that are in high demand and available for immediate checkout without having to put them on hold.
Just look for the Peak Picks display at your local library.
Some of the current titles include:
- “Astrophysics for People in A Hurry” by Neil deGrasse Tyson
- “Sing, Unburied, Sing” by Jesmyn Ward
- “What Happened” by Hillary Rodham Clinton
- “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” by Sherman Alexie
- “Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman
- “George & Lizzie: A Novel” by Nancy Pearl
- “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins
“A Legacy of Spies” by John Le Carré
Peak Picks have a shorter, two-week lending period (compared to the usual three weeks) to encourage people to read them quicker and get them back on the shelf for someone else. They can’t be renewed and they’re subject to the usual late fees.
