The annual Gumshoe 5K Walk, which raises money for three neighborhood nonprofits, has been extended by a week due to the expected heat wave and poor air quality.
The Gumshoe started last Friday and was scheduled to go through Aug. 13, but organizer Mike Veitenhans has added an extra week to allow people more time to complete the fun fundraiser without worrying about the heat.
Because of the extension, the group “Procrastishoe” has moved from Sunday, Aug. 13, to Aug. 20. Meet at Ken’s Market at 3 p.m.

All profits will be split equally between the Greenwood Senior Center, Greenwood Elementary School PTA and Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church Food Bank. The Gumshoe has raised more than $49,000 in 11 years for neighborhood non-profits.
