Apply by Aug. 18 to create your own mini-park for annual PARK(ing) Day

by | Jul 20, 2017

Seattle Department of Transportation is accepting applications to create temporary mini-parks in on-street parking spaces for the 11th annual PARK(ing) Day on Sept. 15.

Applicants could be a business that wants to create a “streatery” out front, or a neighborhood group with a great idea for a “parklet” that activates the space.

New this year, community groups can apply for a Small Sparks Neighborhood Matching Fund of up to $5,000 to create a PARK(ing) Day park. Applications to the Small Sparks Fund are due by Aug. 7.

You don’t have to be a professional architect or drafter to create a PARK(ing) Day spot. Just a simple sketch on the application will do.

If you need inspiration, check out the PARK(ing) Day Gallery of past installations.
