Four more days to vote on park and street improvements in and near our neighborhood

by | Jun 26, 2017

The City of Seattle is letting residents vote on how to spend $285,000 on street and park improvements in each of the seven City Council Districts.

The “Your Voice, Your Choice: Parks & Streets” participatory budgeting initiative lets residents cast a ballot for their top three choices in the district where they live, work, go to school, etc.

Each council district has its own ballot with 8-10 projects to choose from. Those projects were selected from nearly 900 ideas submitted by community.

Community members ages 11 and up can vote online or at in-person polling stations between June 3-30. Paper ballots are also available at all community centers and libraries. The projects that receive the most votes will be funded by the City and implemented in 2018.

Ballots will be tallied after June 30, and winning projects will be announced by July 18. You can find information and voting instructions at www.seattle.gov/yvyc.

Our neighborhood’s District 6 project is for street crossing Improvements on NW 50th Street and Dayton Ave NW (adding flashing beacons and curb ramps to make crossing safer near schools and Woodland Park). See the complete list of District 6 projects here.
